Tales of Suspense #45 is a truly seminal issue. Within, we find:

1.) More roller skates! (I honestly can't get over how often roller skates are featured in early Iron Man comics. It's truly hilarious.)

2.) A life-threatening heart attack on the speedway! (Whenever Tony has a heart attack, you know you're looking at an excellent Iron Man comic. Cardiac incidents are an Iron Man sine qua non.)

3.) The introduction of Harold "Happy" Hogan, who rescues Tony from his totaled sports car and earns himself a new job as Tony's chauffeur/bodyguard. (Also, you notice how loath Tony is to let anyone endanger himself on his account? That's yet another manifestation of Tony's self-sacrificing nature.)

4.) The introduction of Pepper Potts, who immediately takes to sassing Happy. In my family, we call this "junior high sex," and I think it's great.

5.) A suggestion that the early armor is painful for Tony to wear. That really shines new light on these first adventures, eh? It may look awesome, but the entire time, Tony is suffering

And finally, 6.) Tony being as forgiving as eff with a colleague -- a decision that eventually bites him in the butt in this very issue. Alas, poor Tony: you were only trying to be merciful. <3
