This, for me, is a beautiful encapsulation of the appeal of these early Iron Man comics. I love Tony Stark precisely because of his debilities, not in spite of them. That he struggles with chronic illness, depression, and alcoholism makes him deeply relatable -- and makes his triumphs all the more meaningful.
