The first issue of a brand new Captain America/Iron Man team-up miniseries is dropping in late November, and uh -- I'm very, VERY excited about it. Why? Well, because of this article on SYFY WIRE:

Wait. Wait. Are we a month away from getting a storyline that focuses on the long-standing friendship between Tony and Steve? Is there in fact a writer at Marvel who remembers that these men, serious disagreements and interpersonal drama aside, are about as close as two brothers-in-arms can possibly be?

Yes. Yes, we are. And yes, there is.

Derek Landy, you see, sat down to read all the old comics recently, was struck to discover how much he really didn't know, and used this humbling experience as his driving inspiration:

Furthermore, Landy decided it would be more interesting to break with recent tradition and focus instead on what Tony and Steve have in common:

Oh, God, my hopes are stratospherically high right now, you guys. I mean -- if you've been hanging around this blog for very long, you've probably grasped that I love - absolutely love - the very old comics. If Landy did in fact mine said comics for material, chances are excellent I'm going to like his stuff.

And did you notice, too, how Landy describes his two main characters? Steve is "one of the kindest characters in comics" -- and Tony "just wants to protect people." Aaaah, yes, yes, yes! I think this man gets it. I really think he does.

Honestly, November 24th can't come soon enough.

Oh, and by the way, the art looks good too:
