Below are pages from What If the Avengers Fought Galactus? This one is only available in dead tree as far as I can tell, so I encourage you to click and zoom on each image.
Here's Tony losing his temper (over an injured friend, natch) and getting zapped by Galactus.
And here's the Watcher selecting Tony for the mission to Galactus' ship. Unfortunately, Tony gets zapped again -- this time by the ship's defensive weaponry. (He does live, though -- which is one of the better alternative outcomes I plan to share.)
The overall conceit of this issue is that the Avengers don't quite have the correct mix of abilities that allowed the Fantastic Four to best the world-eater. Thus, at the climax, when it seems like all hope is lost, the Watcher himself has to break his vow of non-interference and enter into battle with Galactus himself. Do you agree that this would be the inevitable resolution? Sound off below!
